Offering practical help and hope – before, during, and after – is what the Holmes County Pregnancy and Family Center is about. We provide options counseling for untimely pregnancies whereby we empower women to make informed choices based on objective facts and Biblical truth. We also provide free pregnancy tests and referrals for ultrasound. By participating in class, parents and caregivers learn skills they can immediately apply ranging from all things baby, to applying for a job, to healthy relationships. Most importantly, we endeavor to disciple our clients. Bible classes are relevant to issues prevalent to all women. Biblical counseling shows how the Bible applies to her individual needs; her trauma, her marriage, her journey, her healing. From January through March, we have served 12 clients. We have had twenty Bible classes or counseling sessions, seven parenting sessions, and three life skill classes. What does the client of the Pregnancy & Family Center look like? The following are depictions of real clients, either current or recent:
She is a happily married woman, financially secure, and blessed with a supportive family. She is expecting her first child and is desirous to learn about breastfeeding and caring for her newborn.
She is a grandmother seeking a refresher course in raising kids in a different world than the one she had known.
She is a young woman who arrived pre-determined to have an abortion and left with an application to a maternity home – by her own request.
He is an expectant father of his first child, desirous to learn how to be a father and support his baby’s mother.
She is a mature woman resting in God’s forgiveness of her abortion and rediscovering the joy of living and loving.
She is a woman morphing from victim to overcomer.
The ministry you so faithfully support is certainly about crisis pregnancy. Yet, how many of you know crisis does not cease with the choice to give birth? Nor is pregnancy always a crisis. Hence, the Holmes County Pregnancy & Family Center offers a Biblically sound spectrum of services; particularly Biblical counseling – as an extension of you – the Church. How can the Church enhance your involvement or capitalize on your investment?
Last year, 2021, Holmes County reported 26 abortions (per the Agency for Health Care Administration). That does not include chemical, over the counter abortions which are rarely tracked. From January to date, we have provided concern-specific information and intervention to twelve abortion seekers via their personal devices. At present, we have sixteen people receiving prayer alerts. I believe there are many more willing. If you believe “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against … spiritual forces… in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12); if you believe God inhabits the prayers of His people; please sign up to pray. http://www.lifeprayerpartner.com/hcpfc.
Having a caring person mind our small children so our clients can focus undistracted would be a tremendous help. I currently have a project requiring some graphic design/publishing skills to reach expectant mothers in our community; a booklet included in a gift bag to be given expectant mothers by their health care providers.
To state the obvious, we rely on your financial support to fund our outreach, curriculum, and supplies. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matt. 6:21) Your faithful support through these testing times of inflation is a testament that you treasure souls. On behalf of the lives Jesus impacts through this ministry, we thank you. As God has called us to be accountable as well as good stewards, please know also that a financial report is always available for your review. In closing, I would like to share (attached) two letters offered by our clients that reflect different aspects of our ministry. Under the Shadow of His Wing with You and Yours, Respectfully submitted, Kristin Baker
When my mother-in-law first told me about the Holmes County Pregnancy and Family Center, I did not know what to expect. However, I am so happy that she told me about it. I am expecting my first child in January 2022 and I did not feel prepared at all. Since going to the Holmes County Pregnancy and Family Center, my knowledge has greatly increased to help me be the best mother I can be. I have better expectations of motherhood. I look forward to continue taking classes up until I give birth and even after I give birth to better prepare me for the years ahead of motherhood and raising my children.
Dear Pregnancy Center, Thank you for ever coming to my church to speak to us about the Pregnancy and Family Center in Bonifay. Many of us were surprised, yet impressed with what the Center offers in our community. This program is much needed. Not only for young people, but us seniors as well. Christians have problems too! [The director] gave sound advice to all of us who lead in the church and answered many questions. Cautiously, one person after another spoke up about their families or themselves. To put it plainly, I serve in my church as a deaconess, and I have learned that people can be cruel, and have unkind tongues, so they don’t feel safe sharing with people in the church. Kristin addressed the church family with wisdom and humility. After hearing…of the many classes the Center offers, I very carefully and prayerfully decided to take a class. It was hard to go through the door. I was filled with fear. Now I wonder why I waited so long. I’m learning that every lesson is necessary. I have attended eight classes, and I’m still fighting a few battles, or the devil’s lies. The classes keep me very accountable, and I worship God with every class because each lesson is amazing. I have a new goal. Now I tell women how I have beautiful peace, and even though I’m a leader, I’ve learned to be a servant…who knows the value of a soul. Yours in Christ, A Servant
